What is corn holing?

The Crossroads Pumpkin Fest Committee is pleased to announce the 1st Annual Crossroads Pumpkin Fest Cornhole Classic which will take place at the festival on Saturday, November 7, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Downtown Statesville. The entry deadline is Monday, Nov. 2.

For those of you not familiar with the game, baggo, corn toss, or cornhole (as it is most commonly called) is an increasingly popular game where players toss a one-pound bag filled with corn at a sloped board with a hole at one end. Points are awarded either by tossing the bag into the hole for 3 points, or 1 point if the bag stays on board. The first team to score 21 points wins the game.

The entry fee is $50 per two-person team with a maximum of 32 teams participating in the tournament. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top four teams. Rules and regulations will be posted at the tournament site which is within the boundaries of the Crossroads Pumpkin Fest on South Center Street in the vicinity of City Hall and the Vance Hotel.

For more information or to register your team, call 704-878-3436 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Extraordinaires (Beach, Rock and Dance) 1:30 – 4:30 pm

Oh. Pinch me! The Extraordinaires are coming to help us boogy the afternoon away! They'll take center stage on the Square from 1:30-4:30 p.m. They play a wide variety of dance tunes, old favorites and some new tunes.

Members of this band have been around for a very long time. For example, Greg Conrad  has played with "The Inkspots," and "Harry Deal & The Galaxies."

Welcome to our new blog

We're creating a new way to get quick information to you about Statesville's Crossroads Pumpkin Fest.

Our event is 7 years old and has quickly grown to one of the most popular street festivals in central North Carolina. Our focus is upon children - with fun activities like pumpkin smashing, pumpkin bowling, pumpkin painting - and a brand new Kids Zone with an 18-ft tall Ferris wheel, a bungee jump and more.

For older kids, we are holding a Cornhole Tournament, a skateboard competition and a pie-eating contest. So bring your family and spend the day. Oh, bring your camera, too. Feel free to send us your stories and photos and we'll post them right here!
